Over 37 000 websites are hacked every day
Of the 960 million websites in existence, 75 million are running WordPress and 86% of these websites are running outdated software – leaving them vulnerable to being attacked by hackers.
Personally at Engage24 we are approached every month by businesses that have had their websites hacked, and require our assistance. Most are defaced with porn, or infected with viruses that infect visitors to the website. Both have a very negative effect on the image of the business – and fixing everything can amount to a lot of unexpected expense.
Is your website protected? Do you have anti-virus for your computers, a spam filter on your email? So why are you leaving your website completely unprotected? WordPress websites, and other Content Management System (CMS) based websites such as Joomla, can be protected by applying updates regularly and installing adequate security software.
Keep everything updated regularly (we suggest at least monthly) – and this includes WordPress versions, themes and plugins. You also need to have very good security software installed and be sure to complete full backups of your database and files before any updates are performed.
